Hmmm...interesting. Perhaps it is because of that intimacy that Jesus was able to see what the Father was up do, there by able to say "I only do what I see my Father doing."
About a year ago I had the question of God's will. I looked for answers mostly in the area of guidelines, rules, laws. Things that God had said in The Bible. I really didn't get anywhere. I read some stuff on the topic that was solid, and based on good practice, and Biblical guidelines. But apart from God's presence, they weren't totally convincing. And I had no peace! The thought of intimacy kinda slapped me in the face yesterday. Rather simple.. I couldn't believe I forgot about that aspect. Scares me to think I got religious, and lost focus.
I think it was intimacy Jesus had with the Father, and being led by the Holy Spirit that enabled that. And He had no sin to get in the way.
But then, now neither do we. Because of Jesus Christ, our sins are cleared away, and we look like Jesus to the Father.
So if we choose to spend time with Him, and His Holy Spirit, we are able to hear from Him.
And in hearing Him, our understanding and faith grow. And also our understanding of our relation to God, and our identity.
And then comes opportunity to R-I-S-K, and responsibility.
My thought is, when we know God, He'll pull us into His will.
Disciplines and guidelines are not a bad map to God's will, because they are good, and based on Biblical Truth. But, apart from relationship/intimacy with God. They're incomplete, and lacking 'all power'.
And God's revelations and commands always come with the grace and power to fulfill them. He won't ask us to do anything that He won't help us to do with Him.
